Who is Chris Sharp?
I am Chris Sharp, founder of AI Actualized, an AI consulting practice in Sacramento, California, and co-founder, with Jennifer, of Enlighten Red Light Therapy Center. I came to AI as a small-business owner, not a developer, and I help small businesses find the highest-leverage, lowest-cost place for AI to do real work.
I am a small-business person. I got into AI as a means of survival in small business, and that is still the test I put every idea through: does it help an actual operation carry its load, or does it just give the owner one more thing to rescue?
Why did Chris Sharp start AI Actualized?
I started AI Actualized because AI entered my own business, Enlighten Red Light Therapy Center, as a matter of survival, and most small-business owners I meet are in the same position: implementing AI under load, with no sandbox and no pause button. AI Actualized is where I guide other owners through that.
Jennifer and I opened Enlighten Red Light Therapy Center in 2019. AI did not enter that business as a trend I wanted to talk about. It entered because a two-person operation was already carrying more work than two people could continue doing by hand. Enlighten became patient zero for a lot of my experiments, including the failed ones, and it remains the place where an attractive idea has to prove it can survive contact with a real operating business.
What is AI Actualized?
AI Actualized is Chris Sharp’s AI consulting practice for small businesses in Sacramento, California. I help owners get clear on their business, see where AI fits, and put digital employees to work on the jobs that wear people down, starting with the highest-leverage, lowest-cost move rather than the biggest possible engagement.
The work runs up a ladder. Knowing Your Why and Build Your Business Brain are guided games offered as a courtesy, facilitated by Carrie, AI Actualized’s digital employee. The AI Audit, also offered as a courtesy, is a set of short exercises that shows where the business stands with AI, starting with AI Land, an AI skills assessment for the whole team. What does Chris Sharp mean by “Riding the Tire”?
Riding the Tire is what I, Chris Sharp, call being responsible for work before anybody gave you a proper sandbox to learn it in: figuring out the job while the job is moving, with mistakes carrying real consequences. It is the condition most small-business owners are in as they implement AI.
I have been on the AI path for several years, but I have been in this style of working for most of my career. I have repeatedly found myself responsible for work before anybody gave me a proper sandbox in which to learn it. I had to figure out the job while the job was moving, with mistakes and failures carrying real consequences.
I am not telling you that because being underprepared is noble. I am telling you because most small-business owners are already implementing AI under load. The customers still call. The bills still come. The employees still need answers. The business does not pause while the owner studies a new technology that may change the way the whole operation works.
How does Chris Sharp’s recording-arts background shape his AI work?
At AI Actualized, I trace AI and automation the way my recording-arts training taught me to trace a studio signal path: what enters, what acts on it, what changes, where it moves next, and who owns the result when it arrives. That whole-path view is what lets me work cooperatively with other specialists.
In a studio, signal moves through a path of inputs, controls, processing, monitoring, people, and handoffs. Every node receives something shaped by the node before it. AI and automation are not literally audio systems, but the questions carry over.
I do not have to pretend to be the recording engineer, mix engineer, mastering engineer, tape operator, and producer at the same time. I need to understand how the production hangs together, do responsible work at the stations within my competence, recognize when another role is required, and make sure the next person receives something more useful than a box of disconnected parts.
Does Chris Sharp build AI systems?
Yes, within limits I state up front. At AI Actualized, I build digital employees, the harness around them, and enough of a working system to make a result visible and test it at a responsible scale. I am a consultant and a practical builder. I am not a production developer.
I think in systems and in terms of how to execute things. I can envision the result, build enough to make it visible, test it at a responsible scale, and help you understand what the production version will require. When the work needs production engineering, a qualified developer takes that station, and I stay involved as the guide and translator.
Carrie is the working example. She is AI Actualized’s digital employee, an AI agent whose job is facilitating Knowing Your Why and Build Your Business Brain, and she was built the way I build for clients: a defined job, written operating rules, the tools the job needs, and a person responsible for her.
What makes AI Actualized different from other AI consultants?
What makes AI Actualized different is that I, Chris Sharp, look at AI through three lenses at once: the employee watching his work move toward automation, the owner with too much on his plate, and the builder who can assemble enough of a working system to show what the result would be.
I am an abstract thinker, and I push back when the group or the zeitgeist begins acting as though one tool, one stack, or one prescribed path fits every organization. Each lens checks the other two.

The employee lens
I have been the employee looking down the road at industry-wide displacement and realizing that the work I knew how to do was moving toward automation. That gives me no interest in treating the people inside a business like friction to be removed from a diagram. Implementation decisions land on human beings, and the people closest to the work often know where the real process and the written process stopped matching.

The owner lens
I am still the owner with too much on his plate, trying to muster the last fumes of energy to learn and implement AI in a thoughtful way that makes sense for the actual business model. I know what limited cash, staff, time, attention, and tolerance for failure do to a beautiful plan. If the tool requires constant rescue, it did not create leverage. It created another job.

The systems lens
I am also the builder who can visualize, design, and assemble enough of a working system to show what the desired result may produce. It may not be pretty. It is not developer-level production work. It is enough to expose the route, test the assumption, reveal the missing pieces, and make a better handoff possible.
Where does Chris Sharp continue to learn about AI?
Much of my practical AI education, as the founder of AI Actualized, has come through the PSI community led by Peter and Lizzie Swain. This technology changes too quickly for anybody serious about the work to act as though the training is finished, so I keep learning alongside other owners.
